We had some great language lessons and learnt a Waiata with our buddy class.
We had a great Ako session from some Room 10 students, Michael, Curtys and Kenneth. They came in and taught us a game called Pūkana - which we are loving! We also learnt our Mihi's and did some Māori hand art.
We learnt the Waiata E tu Kahikatea with our Room 2 buddies. We then made leaves to wear to represent us standing together as the Kahikatea tree.
We performed this in our Māori language week assembly!
The words of the Waiata are:
E tu kahikatea
Hei whakapae ururoa
Awhi mai awhi atu
Tatou tatou e
The translation is:
Stand like the kahikatea (tree)
To brave the storms
Embrace and receive
We are one together
